Paracas National Reserve (RNP) is one of the two protected areas (NPAs) categorized, which protects representative samples of our coastal marine ecosystems. Its importance is essential that protects a biological diversity for the maintenance of various biological cycles that ensure the conservation of the species, as income generated thousands of people. It also protects inside various archaeological remains of the Paracas culture based largely on this important reservation.

The income generated through tourism are important to strengthen the entire National System of Protected Natural Areas (SINANPE). In addition, the RNP is included in the list of Wetlands of International Importance of the Ramsar Convention.

It is located in part of the districts of Paracas and Salas, belonging to the provinces of Paracas and Ica, respectively, in the department of Ica. Its area is 335,000 hectares, of which 35% belong to the mainland and islands and 65% to marine waters.

RNP is located 250 km from Lima and is easily accessible from the Panamericana Sur highway. Here you can camp prior coordination with the Head of Area. In addition, a few kilometers away it is the city of Pisco and the Chaco where you can spend the night and also undertake other activities such as visiting the Ballestas Islands.

While, after the earthquake of August 2007 can no longer see the rock formation called “The Cathedral”, you can enjoy a beautiful landscape only complemented by good cuisine and repairers bathrooms on the magnificent beaches of the reserve .
